Core Performance Parameters
Computing Capability
It delivers outstanding instruction execution efficiency, with the floating-point operation instruction execution time ranging from 0.1 to 0.27 µs and the Boolean operation instruction execution time spanning 0.12 to 0.585 µs. The execution time of fixed-point arithmetic and word operation instructions falls within the respective ranges of floating-point and Boolean operations.
It features high computing efficiency, capable of executing 1.86 Kinst per millisecond in 100% Boolean operation scenarios or 2.49 Kinst per millisecond in mixed scenarios with 65% Boolean operations and 35% numerical operations.
The system overhead is low, with the fast task system overhead being only 0.2 ms and the main task system overhead at 1 ms, enabling more efficient allocation of computing resources to core control tasks.
Storage Configuration
It has a built-in 548kB internal RAM, which provides basic storage support for program storage, data caching, etc., meeting the requirements of regular data processing and program operation in industrial automation scenarios.
It is equipped with a storage port slide switch, which supports disabling the storage port or switching the communication port mode (ASCII/RTU/ Memory). It also comes with a write-protected memory function, and an orange LED indicator light prompts the memory write-protection status to ensure data storage security.
Expansion and Connectivity
Slot and Chassis Configuration
It supports 16 slots, allowing flexible expansion of various I/O modules and optional modules to adapt to automation system configurations of different scales.
It supports 2 local chassis, providing the basic infrastructure for centralized installation and connection of local modules, and optimizing equipment layout and wiring.
I/O Expansion Capability
There is no limit on the number of local discrete I/O points (supporting up to 27 slots) and local analog I/O points (supporting up to 27 slots), which can meet the access requirements of large-scale local I/O points.
In terms of remote I/O, S908 remote I/O supports 31,744 discrete input points and 31,744 discrete output points, as well as 1,984 analog input points and 1,984 analog output points. Distributed I/O (Modbus Plus network) supports 8,000 discrete input points and 8,000 discrete output points, along with 500 analog input points and 500 analog output points, which can adapt to the multi-point expansion requirements in distributed control scenarios.
It has application-specific I/O functions, including high-speed interrupt inputs, counters, and precise timestamps, which can meet the needs of special application scenarios such as high-precision control and event capture.
Communication Interfaces and Connectivity
It integrates 1 Modbus Plus interface and 2 Modbus interfaces, realizing physical connection through SUB-D 9 female connectors (1 for Modbus Plus network and 2 for Modbus bus), ensuring stable transmission of core communication protocols.
It supports communication function expansion via a variety of optional modules, including Ethernet, Modbus, Modbus Plus, Profibus DP, Sy/Max, etc., which can flexibly adapt to different industrial network environments.
It has a rich maximum connection configuration, covering 1 USB connection, 2 distributed AS-Interface connections, 2 local Ethernet TCP/IP connections, 2 local Modbus Plus connections, 2 Modbus RS232/485 (Modbus/ASCII) connections, 2 local Profibus DP connections, and 4 remote AS-Interface connections, comprehensively meeting the diverse communication needs between devices and between devices and systems.

Status Indicators & Electrical Characteristics
Status Indicators
- Communication Status Indicators: The Modbus Plus port and each Modbus port are equipped with one green LED indicator respectively, which is used to indicate whether the communication of the corresponding port is active. The Modbus Plus port is also fitted with a red ERROR A indicator for signaling communication errors.
- Operating Status Indicators: One green RUN indicator shows that the CPU has been started and is executing logical operations; one green READY indicator indicates that the CPU has passed the power-on diagnostic test.
- Fault & Abnormality Indicators: One red BAT LOW indicator alerts that the battery needs replacement or is not installed, providing timely reminders related to the stability of the device’s power supply.
Electrical Parameters
The bus current requirement is 1800 mA, which requires matching with the corresponding power supply system to ensure the stable operation of the device.
The product has obtained CSA, CE, UL and other certifications, complies with the HazLoc standard, features reliable electrical safety and environmental adaptability, and is suitable for harsh industrial environments.
Physical & Packaging Information
Dimensions
The dimensions of modules and chassis cover a variety of slot configurations (2-slot, 3-slot, 4-slot, 6-slot, 10-slot, 16-slot), adapting to different installation space requirements. Among them, the 16-slot chassis has a length of 671 mm (26.41 inches) and a width of 428 mm (16.85 inches). The relevant dimensions of a single module can be matched accordingly based on the number of slots.
The packaging dimensions are 5.0 cm (2.0 inches) in height, 17.0 cm (6.7 inches) in width and 31.0 cm (12.2 inches) in length, with a packaging weight of 720.0 g (25.4 oz), facilitating transportation and storage.
