Standard Configuration Features

The REF615E is one of the 12 standard configurations, focusing on non-directional overcurrent protection and directional earth fault protection. It is also equipped with voltage-based measurement functions and circuit breaker condition monitoring (with RTD option available).

Network Adaptability

It is compatible with isolated neutral, resistance-earthed, compensated-earthed and solidly earthed networks. With application-specific settings, the device can be put into direct operation without complicated commissioning.

Hardware Interface Configuration

It is furnished with 4 current transformer (CT) inputs and 5 voltage transformer (VT) inputs, and supports binary inputs/outputs (the maximum number of BIs reaches 16 depending on order codes; BOs include standard outputs and high-speed outputs (HSOs)). An optional RTD/mA measurement module (2 RTD channels, 1 mA channel) is available to meet the requirements for temperature and current signal acquisition.

Protection Functions

It covers non-directional overcurrent protection (low/high/instantaneous stages) and directional earth fault protection (low/high stages), and supports transient/intermittent earth fault protection, negative-sequence overcurrent protection, phase unbalance protection, residual overvoltage protection, etc.

Optional admittance-based, harmonic-based or power-based earth fault protection is available as a supplement, adapting to the fault characteristics of different earthing systems.

It is equipped with circuit breaker failure protection, three-phase inrush current detection, switch-on-to-fault (SOTF) protection and optional arc protection, fully covering various fault scenarios during feeder operation.

Measurement & Monitoring Functions

It conducts real-time measurement of electrical parameters including three-phase current, residual current, three-phase voltage, residual voltage, as well as power (P/Q), energy (E), power factor (pf) and frequency (f).

It supports load profile recording, limit supervision and symmetrical component calculation. The optional power quality monitoring function enables the detection of total demand distortion (TDD) of current, total harmonic distortion (THD) of voltage, voltage fluctuation and unbalance degree.The built-in condition monitoring function continuously tracks the circuit breaker’s spring charging time, SF6 gas pressure, operation time and idle time. Combined with the operation time counter, it facilitates preventive maintenance.

Control & Operation Functions

It allows circuit breaker control via local HMI or remote terminal, and is provided with control modules and position indication functions for disconnectors and earthing switches, meeting the local/remote operation requirements of primary equipment.The integrated synchronism check function ensures safe interconnection of two networks. The optional multi-stage automatic reclosing function is suitable for fault recovery of overhead lines.

The local HMI offers two display options. The large display supports user-defined one-line diagrams (up to 10 pages), which can visually present device status and measurement data, and enables local/remote mode switching.

Communication & Data Logging

It supports multiple communication protocols, including IEC 61850 Edition 2, IEC 61850-9-2 LE (process bus), IEC 60870-5-103, Modbus and DNP3. The protocol converter SPA-ZC 302 enables extended support for Profibus DPV1.

It comes with a rich set of communication interfaces, including Ethernet (RJ45/LC optical fiber) and serial interfaces (RS-485/RS-232/ST optical fiber), and supports HSR/PRP/RSTP redundancy protocols to ensure communication stability.

It boasts powerful data logging capability: the disturbance recorder supports 12 analog channels and 64 binary channels; the event log can store 1024 time-stamped events; the fault recorder can save the latest 128 fault data records; the load profile recording can last up to 7 years.
