Emerson 1C31116G04 is an analog input module in the Ovation system, mainly used for cold junction compensation (CJC) of thermocouple signals. It measures the temperature of the terminal block through a built-in temperature sensor, and calculates the actual temperature by combining with the thermocouple voltage signal to solve the measurement error caused by the temperature change of the reference end. The module needs to be used in conjunction with the terminal block cover (1C31207H01) to maintain uniform temperature in the terminal block and sensor area.

Terminal Block Connections

Temperature Sensor: The built-in sensor requires no additional wiring, as cold junction compensation is implemented via internal circuitry of the module.
Grounding and Shielding
Shielded Cables: Ground shielded cables at a single point (preferably at the signal source). In CE-certified systems, ground the shield at the cabinet entry point.
Interference Prevention: Avoid sharing the same shield layer with high-level signals to prevent electromagnetic interference.
Jumper Configuration
Local Grounding/Field Grounding: Set via internal jumpers of the module:Default: Local grounding (jumpers installed vertically).
Field grounding: Remove jumpers.
