Triconex 3603T TMR 120 VDC Digital Output Modules

The Triconex 3603T is a 120 VDC digital output module featuring a TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) architecture. It delivers 0.8A output current per point (with 4A surge/10ms capability), supports 90-150 VDC operating voltage (max. 160 VDC), and consumes <10W logic power.

It enables hot-swappable replacement of faulty modules without system disruption. Status monitoring is provided via Pass/Fault/Active/Load/Fuse indicators and Output Voter Diagnostics (OVD). Compatible with Main/Expansion/Remote Chassis, it occupies 1 logical slot (2 physical slots with hot spare). Requiring independent dual-redundant power supplies (≥240W each), it uses twisted-pair cables for outputs to minimize interference.

As a 120 VDC module based on the TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) architecture in the Tricon system, the 3603T digital output module boasts core advantages in reliability, fault tolerance, compatibility, and safety design.

Ⅰ、High-Reliability Redundancy Architecture

TMR Triple Redundancy Design

It executes output control through three independent channels in parallel. The hardware/software voting mechanism ensures the consistency of input and output data. When a single channel fails, the system can still operate via the other channels, avoiding output interruptions caused by single-point failures.

The output circuit adopts a patented quadruple output architecture (Quad Voter), which verifies output signals through a 2/3 voting mechanism to ensure the accuracy of load driving.

Hot Spare and Online Maintenance Capability

It supports hot-swappable replacement of faulty modules without shutdown or interruption of field wiring, maintaining the continuity of industrial processes.

The hot spare module automatically synchronizes its status after insertion, ensuring no output interruption during switching.

Ⅱ、Perfect Diagnostics and Fault Handling

Real-Time Status Monitoring

Panel LED indicators intuitively display the module status:

Pass (green): The module is running normally.

Fault (red): Internal fault, requiring replacement.

Active (yellow): The module is in working status.

Load/Fuse (yellow): Abnormal load or blown fuse, with real-time alarm.

Output Voter Diagnostics (OVD)

Regular OVD tests are performed to detect potential faults by briefly reversing the output drive state. The Loop-back mechanism verifies the health of the output circuit, featuring high fault detection coverage.

OVD can be disabled (only used when process interference occurs), but it needs to be enabled periodically to ensure completeness.

Wide Voltage and Load Support

The operating voltage range is 90–150 VDC (maximum 160 VDC), adapting to various industrial power supply environments.

The single-channel output current is 0.8 A (surge 4 A/10 ms), supporting inductive loads (such as relays and solenoids), with built-in reverse diode protection.

Anti-Interference and Isolation Design

The point isolation voltage is 2500 VDC, effectively isolating external electrical interference.

Twisted-pair wiring is adopted to reduce electromagnetic coupling with high-voltage cables.

Ⅳ、System Integration and Flexibility

Multi-Chassis Compatibility: The 3603T can be installed in the Main Chassis, Expansion Chassis, or Remote Expansion (RXM) Chassis, supporting cascading of up to 15 chassis. A single system can accommodate 118 I/O modules.

The I/O bus address is configurable (Main Chassis fixed at 1, Expansion Chassis 2–15), adapting to complex system architectures.

Modular Design: Mechanical keyed slots prevent misinstallation. The standardized hardware design reduces maintenance costs and facilitates convenient spare parts management.
