Foxboro P0916PW FBM217 is a discrete input module under Schneider Electric. It provides 32 discrete input channels and can receive voltage signals such as 15 to 60V DC, 120V AC/125V DC, and 240V AC. Equipped with hot-swappable functionality, it supports configurable options including input filtering time and fail-safe configuration. Featuring a rugged design, it is suitable for harsh G3-class environments. It can communicate with relevant controllers via the module fieldbus and is commonly used in industrial automation and process control systems such as chemical and petroleum industries, reliably receiving signals from field devices and transmitting them to the control system.
DATA SHEET
Functional Features
Signal Processing: Equipped with 32 groups of isolated input channels, it can receive discrete input signals of 15-60V DC, 120V AC/125V DC, and 240V AC, perform signal conversion, and adapt to the electrical input signal connection between field sensors and FCP or ZCP.
Communication Function: Communicates with Fieldbus Communications Module or Control Processor via a 2 Mbps module fieldbus, and can switch to another path for continued communication when one path fails.
Program Execution: Capable of executing discrete input, ladder logic, pulse counting, and event sequence programs, with configurable input filtering time and fail-safe configuration options.
Performance Parameters
Voltage Parameters: The voltage in the on-state is 15-30V DC, and the voltage in the off-state is 0-5V DC.
Current Parameters: At 30V DC input, the typical current is 2.2 mA.
Resistance Parameters: The maximum source resistance in the on-state is 1 kΩ, and the minimum in the off-state is 100 kΩ.
Filtering and Pulse Counting: The filtering/debounce time is configurable (no filtering, 4, 8, 16, or 32 ms), and the maximum pulse counting rate is 250Hz.
Redundancy Features
Module Redundancy: Can be used as a single module or in paired redundant configuration. In redundancy mode, the two modules receive signals from the same terminal component, and the control software verifies and selects high-quality inputs for processing.
Power Supply Redundancy: In redundant configuration, the contact sensing power supplies of the two modules are "OR" operated via diodes in the redundant adapter to ensure redundant power supply.
Function Block Support: Each pair of redundant inputs uses the redundant contact input function block CINR, which is responsible for handling input reading and redundant channel initialization logic.
Structural Design: Compact in design, the housing is made of robust acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) material, suitable for Class G3 (harsh) environments.
Installation Design: Installed on the Compact 200 Series 16-slot horizontal backplane. Redundant modules must be placed in adjacent odd and even positions, facilitating easy removal and replacement without the need to disconnect field wiring, power supplies, or communication cables.
Indicator Design: The front of the module is equipped with red and green LED lights to display the module status, and 32 blue LED lights to indicate the status of each input channel.
Terminal Assembly Support
Compatibility with Various TAs: Used with different terminal assemblies (TAs), which feature current limiting, high-voltage attenuation, optical isolation, and external power connection functions, supporting input signals of different voltage levels and types.
Diverse TA Functions: There are main TAs and expansion TAs. Main TAs can be used independently or connected to expansion TAs via Type 6 cables to expand functions, and different main TAs and expansion TAs can be flexibly paired.
