Technical Specifications
Physical Specifications
Dimensions: Adopting a standardized rack-compatible design, it measures 241.3 mm × 24.4 mm × 99.1 mm (height × width × depth), equivalent to 9.50 in × 0.96 in × 3.90 in in imperial units. This precise sizing ensures seamless fit within the installation space of the 3500 Series rack.
Weight: The module weighs only 0.20 kg (0.44 lb). Its lightweight design helps reduce the overall load on the rack and simplifies installation and maintenance procedures.
Installation Requirements: It occupies 1 full-height rear slot of the 3500 rack and must be installed in conjunction with the corresponding monitoring module (which occupies 1 full-height front slot). This configuration ensures short signal transmission paths and high reliability.
Electrical Characteristics
Input Compatibility: As a supporting I/O component for the 3500/50M Tachometer Module, it supports access to 1–2 channels of transducer signals, compatible with proximity probes and magnetoelectric sensors (note: magnetoelectric sensors have usage limitations in reverse rotation monitoring and zero-speed monitoring modes). The input signal range is +10.0 V to -24.0 V; signals exceeding this range will be clamped internally by the module to prevent hardware damage.
Input Impedance: The standard input impedance is 20 kΩ, and it is also compatible with the 40 kΩ impedance requirement for TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) configurations, adapting to the signal output characteristics of different sensor types.
Power Supply: It relies on the unified power supply system of the 3500 rack to provide 24 Vdc power output for connected sensors, with a maximum per-channel supply current of 40 mA, which meets the power requirements of most industrial sensors.
Signal Processing Capability: It supports signal acquisition of 0.0039 to 255 events per revolution (for rotor acceleration and zero-speed channel types, the range is 1 to 255 events per revolution). When paired with the 3500/50M Module, it achieves high-precision speed measurement: the measurement accuracy reaches ±0.1 rpm in low-speed scenarios (<100 rpm), and ±0.01% of the actual shaft speed in medium-to-high speed scenarios (10,000–99,999 rpm).
Output and Protection Characteristics
Buffered Outputs: Each channel is equipped with 1 coaxial connector on the front panel of the module, and buffered outputs are provided via Eurostyle connectors at the I/O terminal. All output interfaces feature short-circuit protection and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection, which significantly reduce signal transmission interference from the external environment and enhance the module’s operational stability.
Recorder Outputs: It supports integration with recording devices, with output signals proportional to the module’s full-scale range (rpm or rpm/min). Each channel provides an independent recorder value, and short-circuit faults at the recorder output terminals will not affect the module’s normal monitoring operation, ensuring excellent fault tolerance.
Current Output Characteristics: The voltage compliance range is 0 to +12 Vdc, compatible with load resistances from 0 to 600 Ω. The output resolution reaches 0.3662 µA/bit, with an error of only ±0.25% at room temperature and a maximum error of ≤±0.7% across the full temperature range. The update rate is approximately 100 ms, which meets the requirements for high-precision data acquisition tasks such as data logging and chart recording.

Functional Features
Integrated Terminal Design
It adopts an Internal Terminations solution, eliminating the need for additional external terminal blocks. This design simplifies the wiring process between the module and sensors, reduces the risk of signal attenuation or faults caused by wiring nodes, and simultaneously cuts down the space occupation and cost of system deployment. It should be noted that this module is not compatible with external-terminal I/O modules, and external terminal blocks must not be used interchangeably.
Comprehensive Compatibility and Expandability
It strictly complies with the firmware and software version requirements of the 3500 Series system, and must be used in conjunction with components including the 3500/22M Module Firmware (Version 1.70), 3500/01 Configuration Software (Version 4.20 or higher) and 3500/50M Firmware (Version 5.30 or higher) to ensure the coordinated operation of system hardware and software. It is not compatible with the 3500/20 Module of any version.It supports delivering conditioned Keyphasor signals to the backplane of the 3500 rack, eliminating the need for an additional standalone Keyphasor signal module. This facilitates the sharing of critical signals with other monitors and improves system integration efficiency.
Peak Hold and Alarm Linkage
Working in tandem with the 3500/50M Tachometer Module, it supports the peak hold function, which can store the maximum rotational speed, maximum reverse rotational speed or reverse rotation count during equipment operation, and the peaks can be reset via software. In combination with the system’s programmable alarm setpoints, two-level alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) can be configured for measured values such as rotational speed and acceleration. The alarm delay time is flexibly adjustable (Alarm 1: 1–60 seconds in 1-second increments; Alarm 2: 1–60 seconds in 0.1-second increments). The alarm setting range covers 0–100% of the full-scale measured values, meeting the safety monitoring requirements of different types of equipment.
High Reliability and Environmental Adaptability
It is designed with a 2.5 V hysteresis voltage, which effectively avoids false alarms caused by minor signal fluctuations and improves the accuracy of alarm judgment.It has a wide operating temperature range of -20˚C to +65˚C (-4˚F to +149˚F), making it adaptable to the complex temperature conditions of industrial sites.

Ordering and Usage Notes
Ordering Information
The product model falls under the 3500/50-AA-BB Series. When the AA code is set to 01, it corresponds to this module (I/O Module with Internal Terminations). The BB code can be selected based on hazardous area certification requirements: 00 for no certification, 01 for cNRTLus certification, and 02 for ATEX/IECEx/CSA certifications.
If expansion devices such as recorders are required, corresponding external terminal blocks (e.g., 128702-01 (Eurostyle connector), 128710-01 (terminal strip connector)) and dedicated cables (e.g., 135101 Series signal cables, 129529 Series recorder output cables) are available for selection. Cable lengths range from 5 ft to 100 ft to suit installation needs, with options for Assembled or Not Assembled configurations.
Usage Restrictions
It must not be used independently as a component of speed control or overspeed protection systems. Due to the lack of protection redundancy and response speed required for reliable operation, it is only suitable for data acquisition, display, and alarm indication purposes.
Magnetoelectric sensors are not suitable for reverse rotation monitoring or zero-speed monitoring functions. Failure to comply may result in misjudgment of rotation direction, as clear detection edges cannot be guaranteed at low speeds.
External terminal blocks are prohibited from being used with this internal-termination I/O module. For internal barrier functionality, refer to the 3500 Internal Barrier Product Data Sheet (Document No. 141495).
For maintenance and replacement, it is recommended to use genuine original spare parts (e.g., connector plugs 00580434, 00580436). A disposable anti-static wrist strap (Part No. 04425545) must be worn during operation to prevent electrostatic damage to the module.
Application Scenarios
With its high compatibility, precision and reliability, this module is widely used in the condition monitoring of critical equipment across industries including power generation, petrochemicals, metallurgy, and maritime engineering. Typical applications include:
Rotational speed and acceleration monitoring of steam turbines and generators;
Zero-speed detection and reverse rotation alarm for rotating machinery such as pumps and fans;
Condition monitoring of marine propulsion systems and offshore platform power equipment;
Other industrial equipment requiring continuous monitoring of shaft rotation parameters.
