Core Configuration and Compatibility

(I) System Component Compatibility

The 330180-90-00 acts as the proximitor sensor unit of the 3300 XL System. It must be used in conjunction with 3300 XL 8 mm probes (such as the 330101, 330103 series, etc.) and corresponding extension cables to form a complete measurement system. The total system length is 9.0 meters (29.5 feet), with no accompanying installation hardware. Users are required to select suitable mounting brackets separately according to installation requirements (e.g., aluminum threaded mounting bracket 137492-AA or phenolic resin threaded mounting bracket 27474-AA). It should be noted that the sum of the extension cable length and the probe length must equal the total length of the sensor to ensure the system meets performance standards.

(II) Bidirectional Compatibility Design

  1. Downward CompatibilityThe sensor is fully interchangeable with components of the non-XL 3300 5 mm and 8 mm sensor systems both electrically and physically. Even though its package differs from that of previous-generation products, when paired with a 4-hole mounting base, it can be adapted to the same 4-hole mounting pattern. Moreover, on the premise of complying with the minimum cable bending radius requirement, it can meet the specifications of the original installation space, enabling replacement and upgrade without the need to modify the installation environment.
  2. Cross-Specification CompatibilityIt is compatible with 5 mm probes of the 3300 series. When installation space is limited and 8 mm probes cannot be accommodated, 5 mm probes can be used as an alternative without affecting the basic measurement functions of the system. (It should be noted that when mixing XL and non-XL components, the system performance will be subject to the specifications of the non-XL components.)

Key Performance Parameters

(I) Electrical Performance

  1. Power Supply and Power ConsumptionIt is compatible with isolated power supplies ranging from -23 Vdc to -26 Vdc, with a maximum power consumption of 12 mA. Attention should be paid that an input voltage higher than -23.5 Vdc may lead to a reduction in the linear range.
  2. Output and SensitivityThe output resistance is 50 Ω, and it features excellent power supply sensitivity. For every 1-volt change in input voltage, the output voltage changes by less than 2 mV, ensuring the stability of measurement signals.
  3. Calibration StandardsThe factory default calibration target is AISI 4140 steel. If adaptation to other target materials is required, customized calibration solutions can be provided based on specific needs.

(II) Measurement Accuracy and Range

  1. Linear RangeThe linear measurement range is 0.25 mm to 2.3 mm (10 to 90 mils), corresponding to an output voltage of approximately -1 Vdc to -17 Vdc. The recommended gap setting for radial vibration is 1.27 mm (50 mils).
  2. Scale Factor and ErrorAs a core component of the 9-meter system, its Incremental Scale Factor (ISF) is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil). The total error, including interchangeability error, is ±6.5% (measured in 0.25 mm increments at a temperature range of 0°C to +45°C). The Deviation from Straight Line (DSL) relative to the best-fit straight line is less than ±0.038 mm (±1.5 mil), ensuring high-precision measurement.
  3. Temperature StabilityWithin the probe temperature range of -35°C to +120°C and the sensor and extension cable temperature range of 0°C to +45°C, the ISF deviation is maintained within ±10%, and the DSL deviation does not exceed ±0.076 mm (±3 mil). When the temperature range of the sensor and extension cable is extended to -35°C to +65°C, the ISF deviation is still controlled within ±18%, making it suitable for temperature fluctuations in industrial scenarios.

Frequency Response and Anti-Interference Capability

  1. Frequency ResponseIn the frequency range of 0 to 10 kHz, the frequency response is +0, -3 dB. It supports on-site wiring with a maximum length of 305 meters (1000 feet). For high-frequency signal attenuation during long-distance wiring, refer to the frequency response charts (Figure 10, Figure 12) in the product documentation.
  2. Anti-Interference CapabilityIt has strong Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) immunity. It can meet the requirements of the European CE certification without the need for special shielded conduits or metal enclosures, and can be installed in fiberglass enclosures without being adversely affected by nearby radio frequency signals, reducing installation costs and complexity. Meanwhile, in a magnetic field environment of 60 Hz and up to 300 gauss, the output voltage fluctuation is minimal, ensuring measurement reliability in complex electromagnetic environments.

Structural Design and Installation Features

(I) Physical Structure and Materials

  1. Sensor MaterialsThe main body is made of A308 aluminum alloy, and the connector is made of gold-plated brass or gold-plated beryllium copper, featuring excellent corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity. The connector adopts a ClickLoc design, which only requires manual tightening (a "click" sound will be heard when fully tightened). Its proprietary locking mechanism prevents loosening, and no special tools are needed for installation and disassembly.
  2. Mounting CompatibilityIt supports two mounting modes: high-density DIN rail mounting and traditional panel mounting. The bases for both mounting methods have electrical isolation functionality, eliminating the need for additional isolation plates and adapting to different installation space requirements. For panel mounting, four 6-32 UNC thread-forming screws are required (4 screws per sensor, included in the sensor housing as standard configuration). For DIN rail mounting, a 35 mm standard DIN rail is required (not included in the product package).

(II) Installation Specifications

  1. Target and Spacing RequirementsIt is suitable for shafts with a minimum diameter of 50.8 mm (2 inches), with a recommended minimum shaft diameter of 76.2 mm (3 inches). To avoid cross-interference, the minimum tip spacing between probes shall be 40 mm (1.6 inches) for axial position measurement and 38 mm (1.5 inches) for radial vibration measurement, ensuring signal independence when multiple sensors are installed.
  2. Wiring and ProtectionSuitable shielded cables should be selected for on-site wiring, with a maximum wiring distance of 305 meters. It is recommended to install protective sleeves for connectors (connector protection kit 40113-02 can be ordered separately) or use the silicone tape provided with the product (not recommended for scenarios in contact with turbine oil) to enhance environmental protection capability.

Environmental Adaptability and Safety Certifications

(I) Environmental Tolerance Range

  1. Temperature RangeThe operating temperature ranges from -52°C to +100°C, and the storage temperature ranges from -52°C to +105°C, adapting to industrial low-temperature storage and high-temperature operating scenarios. If it needs to be used in higher temperature environments (where the temperature of probes or cables exceeds 177°C), it can be paired with extended temperature range (ETR) probes and extension cables, and the system can still work normally (the ETR components will determine the upper limit of system accuracy).
  2. Humidity and Pressure ResistanceAt a relative humidity of 93% (compliant with IEC 68-2-3 standard), the change in Average Scale Factor (ASF) is less than 3% for continuous operation over 56 days. The probe adopts a Viton® O-ring sealing design, which can withstand a certain pressure difference. If the application scenario has special requirements for sealing performance, please contact the custom design department in advance for pressure sealing testing.

(II) Safety and Compliance Certifications

  1. Functional Safety CertificationsIt complies with SIL 2 (HFT=0) and SIL 3 (HFT=1) functional safety standards, meeting the usage requirements of industrial safety-critical scenarios.
  2. Regional CertificationsIt has obtained FCC certification, European EMC Directive (2014/30/EU), RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) and China RoHS certification. Hazardous area certifications include cNRTLus, ATEX/IECEx, etc. It can be used in hazardous areas such as Class I, Zone 0/2 (must be paired with specified intrinsically safe zener barriers or non-incendive circuits and installed in accordance with corresponding drawings).
  3. Marine CertificationIt complies with the 2019 ship classification specifications and is suitable for monitoring scenarios of marine and offshore platform equipment.
