Woodward 8237-1600 ProTech-GII is an overspeed protection device, mainly used in steam turbines, gas turbines and water turbines. It can safely shut down the turbine when an overspeed or excessive acceleration condition is detected.
Overspeed and Acceleration Detection: Precisely monitor the turbine rotor speed and acceleration through active or passive MPU (magnetoelectric speed sensor). The derived signal of the speed signal is used to detect turbine acceleration, and a trip command is issued when the set value is exceeded.
MPU Detection: The speed sensor input end of each module uses a special MPU open-wire detection circuit to verify whether the MPU is correctly connected before the turbine operates, and uses a special stall detection logic to verify the functionality of the MPU during operation.
Automatic Overspeed Test: Can be configured to perform regular overspeed tests on each module. An internal frequency generator is used to simulate overspeed conditions, and then the test results are recorded and reported.
Log Recording: Equipped with a logging function, which can record all trips, alarms, quick-closing valve response times and overspeed events. The trip recording function uses a rolling buffer, which can record the latest 50 trip or alarm events and the latest 20 overspeed events. Each module uses non-volatile memory to ensure that the records are not lost when the power is off.
Real-Time Clock: Each module uses a real-time clock to ensure accurate time recording, and a special time equalization function is used between modules to ensure clock synchronization.
Triple-module Design: Adopting a triple-module design, users can easily replace one of the modules while the turbine is online and operating normally. The base plate features a plug-and-play structure and has module-to-module learning functionality for convenient replacement.
Panel Mounting: Designed for panel mounting, it is easy to integrate into turbine systems. Current values can be viewed from the front panel, and configuration and testing functions can be performed.
Protection Class: The enclosure has an IP56 protection rating. When installed correctly, it is dustproof and waterproof.
