FAQ

1.The drive shows no response and indicators stay off after power-on.

Causes: Power disconnected, phase loss, blown fuse, damaged internal rectifier bridge or capacitor.

Solutions: Check the wiring and voltage of the three-phase power supply (208–480V) and replace the blown fuse. If the issue persists, inspect the internal power module and send the unit for repair if necessary.

2.Alarm F06 (Motor Overheat) occurs. How to resolve it?

Causes: Overloaded motor, poor heat dissipation, faulty temperature sensor or incorrect drive parameter settings.

Solutions: Reduce the load and inspect the motor fan and heat dissipation passages. Measure the resistance of the temperature sensor (normal value: approx. 1kΩ) and replace it if defective. Optimize the overload protection parameters of the drive.

3.Excessive positioning deviation and obvious vibration during operation.

Causes: Mismatched PID parameters, interfered or faulty encoder, loose mechanical parts or unbalanced load.

Solutions: Run auto-tuning again and fine-tune PID parameters. Check encoder wiring and shielding, and keep it away from strong electrical interference. Fasten couplings and guide rails, and rebalance the load.

4.EtherCAT connection failure, unable to communicate with PLC.

Causes: Incorrect bus wiring, missing terminal resistors, IP address conflict or mismatched baud rate.

Solutions: Verify bus wiring (ensure Line A and Line B are not reversed) and install terminal resistors at both ends of the bus. Make sure the drive and PLC share the same network segment with no IP conflict. Unify the baud rate and restart the bus module.

5.Frequent overcurrent alarm (F03).

Causes: Short circuit in motor windings, mechanical seizure of load, damaged IGBT module or faulty current detection circuit.

Solutions: Measure the insulation resistance of motor windings (normal value: ≥1MΩ) and repair the motor if short-circuited. Check for mechanical jamming and clean transmission components. Inspect the IGBT module and replace it if damaged.

6.How to back up and restore drive parameters?

Solutions: Insert an MMC memory card, then perform parameter backup via the Setup software to save data to the card. For restoration, select parameter recovery to load data from the card, and restart the drive to apply settings.

7.What types of servo motors are supported?

Solutions: Compatible with all Kollmorgen servo motors (AKM, AKD series). It also supports third-party servo motors, linear motors and motors with resolver feedback equipped with EnDat, HIPERFACE or incremental encoders.

8.Can the drive operate when ambient temperature exceeds 40℃?

Solutions: It can run at 45℃ for a short period (≤ 1 hour) with a 20% load derating. For long-term operation, keep the temperature within 0–40℃. Exceeding the range will trigger overheat protection and shorten the service life of the drive.
