HIMA F8650E (Part No. 984865064) Central Module

Product Details

HIMA F8650E (Part No. 984865064) is the core central module of HIMA H41q/H51q programmable electronic safety system PES. It is compatible with H51q‑MS, H51q‑HS, H51q‑HRS hardware racks and certified for safety levels SIL1‑SIL3, AK1‑AK6. It undertakes safety logic operation, bus management, event logging and fault diagnosis functions. Adopting dual clock-synchronized microprocessor architecture, F8650E serves as the main control unit of industrial SIS safety instrumented system. It can process field I/O signals, execute interlock logic and perform fail-safe shutdown. When upgrading from the old F8650 hardware to F8650E, the heat dissipation fan scheme needs to be adjusted synchronously.

Core Advantages

  • Dual microprocessor clock-synchronized redundant architecture with independent dual-channel operation comparison, reducing the risk of safety failure caused by single-point faults and meeting strict SIL3 safety application requirements.
  • Onboard complete hardware self-diagnosis, real-time monitoring of processor, memory, bus and battery status. Fault codes can be read directly on the panel for visualisation, lowering on-site troubleshooting difficulty.
  • Independent safety watchdog hardware circuit, fail-safe shutdown triggered upon fault. The output circuit comes with short-circuit protection to keep process equipment in fail-safe state.
  • Galvanically isolated RS‑485 communication to avoid ground loop interference in industrial sites. Hardware DIP switches support quick configuration of bus station address and baud rate, basic bus setup available without software download.
  • Large-capacity event buffer to retain interlock actions and fault event records for accident review and analysis.

Product Features

HIMA F8650E (984865064) central module adopts dual PCB board structure, and the front panel integrates complete man-machine diagnostic interface. The lithium battery maintains SRAM data when the module is powered off. Aged battery will lead to loss of event buffer data. The ACK button has dual functions: confirm and clear alarms under normal faults; pressing ACK under fault shutdown state equals system power-on reset. All switches of hardware DIP switch S1 must be configured correctly; station address 0 is illegal and cannot be used. When upgrading from F8650 to F8650E, the cabinet cooling fan scheme must be modified, otherwise overheating abnormality will occur. The module supports hot-swap replacement without interrupting operation of other system components, convenient for on-site spare parts maintenance. It is compatible with BS41q/51q operating system and works with ELOP II engineering software for program download and configuration.

  • Petrochemical ESD emergency shutdown system: safety interlock for refining units and tank farms, process shutdown protection triggered under abnormal working conditions.
  • Fire & Gas F&G safety system: flame and combustible gas alarm interlock control for oil & gas plants and offshore platforms.
  • Power plant boiler BMS burner management system: furnace ignition, flame loss protection and fuel cut-off logic control.
  • HIPPS high-integrity pressure protection system for natural gas long-distance pipelines, emergency shut-off upon overpressure.
  • Safety interlock for critical processes in metallurgy and pharmaceutical industries, applicable to SIL2 and SIL3 safety instrumented projects.
  • Main control rack of H41q/H51q series PES programmable electronic safety system, core main control unit for small and medium-sized safety control cabinets.

Procurement & Selection

Confirm that the system rack is H51q‑MS / H51q‑HS / H51q‑HRS during selection. F8650E is not compatible with H41q compact rack. Fill in complete part number 984865064 to avoid confusion with F8650 and F8650X. A single SIS system can be equipped with one F8650E; high-availability projects adopt dual-module redundant architecture. Verify project safety level SIL1‑3 and confirm F8650E certification matches project specifications. Check matching lithium battery, rack base and power supply module models synchronously to prevent hardware matching conflicts.

Common Pitfalls

  • When directly replacing old F8650 card, the cabinet cooling fan scheme must be modified. Without cooling modification, F8650E will suffer overheating error and frequent CPU fault shutdown.
  • DIP switch S1 station address cannot be set to 0; station address range 1‑31. Baud rate setting must be consistent with other bus sites, otherwise all bus communication will be interrupted.
  • If lithium battery is not replaced after expiry, SRAM event buffer will be lost upon power-off and fault history records cannot be read. Do not replace battery only when battery alarm appears.
  • F8650E and F8650X have similar hardware appearance, but incompatible firmware and program; they cannot be directly interchanged for installation.
  • Wire RS‑485 according to DB9 pin definition. Do not use ordinary RS232 cable, otherwise unstable communication and packet loss will occur.

After-sales Service

F8650E is an industrial safety card. Replace spare parts preferentially in case of hardware fault; on-site board repair is not recommended. Read the 4-digit fault code on the panel first when module fails, and locate fault source by referring to BS41q/51q operation manual. Check S1 DIP switch parameters and confirm station address & baud rate before installing spare parts. Lithium battery is a consumable item and not covered by hardware warranty; spare parts need to be purchased periodically.

FAQ

Q: Can F8650E and F8650 be directly interchanged for installation?
A: The hardware slot supports direct insertion, but the cabinet cooling fan scheme must be adjusted. Overheating fault will occur without cooling modification, and operating system version compatibility also needs confirmation.

Q: What does BATI alarm on F8650E panel indicate?
A: It means the backup lithium battery voltage is low. Replace CR2477N (part number 440000018) lithium battery as soon as possible. SRAM cached event data will be lost after power failure.

Q: RS‑485 bus cannot communicate after S1 DIP switch is configured?
A: Confirm baud rate settings of all bus sites are consistent and station address is not 0. Check DB9 wiring pins, verify A/B differential signal line and data ground DGND connection, inspect bus termination resistor configuration.

Q: System restarts directly after pressing ACK button?
A: The module is under fail-safe shutdown state. Under this state, ACK button functions as system reset and restart. Read panel fault code to troubleshoot root cause triggering shutdown.

Q: What is the maximum event storage capacity of F8650E?
A: Up to 2048 definable events for the system, the hardware buffer can store a maximum of 500 event records. All cached data will be cleared if battery fails after power-off.

Q: Can F8650E be used on H41q rack?
A: No. F8650E is specially designed for H51q‑MS, ‑HS, ‑HRS rack; F8652E series central module is selected for H41q rack.

Q: CPU indicator keeps red alarm but no fault code on 4-digit display?
A: Check if 5V power supply meets specification, inspect backplane rack contact, take out and reinsert the module, verify battery status, then read diagnostic information inside BS41q/51q software.

Q: Does F8650E support hot-swap replacement?
A: Hot swap is supported. Confirm the process allows single main controller offline before replacement. Pulling out one F8650E under redundant architecture will not trigger safety shutdown.

Notes

  • Take ESD protection when installing or removing F8650E module. Static electricity may damage processor and memory chips on the board.
  • Control cabinet operating ambient temperature within allowable product range. High temperature environment will shorten lithium battery service life.
  • Review S1 DIP switch station address and baud rate parameters before each power-on commissioning to avoid system abnormality caused by shifted DIP switch.
  • Record panel fault code before ACK reset after fault shutdown. Fault code will be cleared after reset, which is unfavorable for fault analysis.
  • Lithium battery replacement must be performed while the module is powered on. Replacing battery under power-off state will lose SRAM cached data.
