The Hirschmann MM20-M2M2M2M2EBHH is a Fast Ethernet fiber media module of the MICE series from Germany Hirschmann, a brand under Belden. Developed for MS20/MS30 series modular industrial switches, it is equipped with four 100BASE-FX multimode fiber ports. It expands fiber network interfaces and enables long-distance anti-interference communication, making it widely applicable in harsh industrial environments.

FAQ

Q1: The module cannot be detected and the port LED is off.
A: ① Ensure the module is fully inserted and locked in place. ② Verify the switch model; only MS20 and MS30 are compatible. ③ Test with another slot to rule out slot failure. ④ Upgrade the switch firmware if the version is outdated.
Q2: The fiber link fails and the LED flashes abnormally.
A: ① Clean or replace the patch cord if the fiber end face is contaminated or scratched. ② Check fiber type; only 50/62.5μm multimode fiber is applicable. ③ Shorten the transmission distance if it exceeds 5 km, or use a single-mode module instead. ④ Test with another port in case of port damage.
Q3: Frequent disconnections occur under high temperature.
A: ① Improve ventilation or install heat dissipation devices if the ambient temperature exceeds +70°C. ② Re-seat and fasten loose fiber connectors. ③ Replace the module if it is worn out. ④ Check the power supply (24V DC±10%) for unstable voltage.
Q4: Can this module work with non-Hirschmann switches?
A: It can connect to standard 100BASE-FX devices. However, management and redundancy functions such as HIPER-Ring are only supported between Hirschmann devices. Non-compatible devices can only perform basic data transmission.
Q5: Does the module support PoE?
A: The MM20-M2M2M2M2EBHH is a pure fiber module without PoE support. For PoE requirements, please select the MM22 series, e.g. MM22-T1T1T1T1.
Q6: How to configure VLAN and redundancy functions?
A: Configure via the Web interface (Default IP: 192.168.1.1) or HiVision software.
① VLAN: Assign ports to corresponding VLANs.
② Redundancy: Enable HIPER-Ring and set up primary and standby ports. The failover time is less than 50 ms.
