The KONGSBERG Hipap TRX32 303088 is a 32-channel high-density digital input I/O module developed by Kongsberg Maritime. It is designed for the HiPAP underwater positioning and communication system as well as the K-CHIEF ship automation platform.

As a core signal acquisition unit of the system, it reliably converts discrete signals from on-site dry/wet contacts (including pumps, valves, level/pressure switches, fire and gas detectors, etc.) into digital data and transmits the data to the main control unit. It enables status monitoring, alarm interlock and safety control, and is widely deployed on merchant vessels, LNG carriers, FPSOs and offshore platforms to withstand harsh marine environments.

Q1: No signals detected on all channels after power-on
A1: ① Check if the 24 V DC power supply works properly and verify correct polarity connection. ② Confirm CAN bus wiring and termination resistor settings. ③ Check indicator lights: a dark PWR light indicates power failure; a non-blinking COM light means communication failure. ④ Reinsert and tighten terminals to resolve poor contact.
Q2: Frequent open circuit fault alarms on several channels
A2: ① Check for loose, broken or corroded wires of the relevant channels. ② Inspect sensors or switches for damage and oxidized contacts. ③ Verify the 24 V DC/8 mA sensor excitation under dry contact mode. ④ Use a spare channel or replace the module if the port is defective.
Q3: Communication lost, module not recognized by K-Workstation
A3: ① Check CAN bus wiring to ensure daisy-chain connection and proper grounding of the shield layer. ② Measure the bus termination resistor; the standard value is 120 Ω. ③ Check for device conflicts or abnormal grounding on the bus. ④ Restart the module and main control unit, and update the firmware if needed.
Q4: Frequent alarms in high-temperature environments
A4: ① Ensure good cabinet ventilation and no blockage of heat dissipation holes. ② Keep the ambient temperature below +70℃, and install cooling fans if necessary. ③ Retighten terminals loosened by high temperature. ④ Adopt reinforced terminals for higher stability in hot environments.
Q5: How to tell dry contact mode apart from wet contact mode?
A5: Dry contact (RDi‑32xe): Passive switch signal. The module outputs 24 V DC/8 mA excitation for unpowered contacts.
Wet contact (RDi‑32Axe): Active signal (24 V DC / 50‑70 Hz AC). No excitation power is supplied, suitable for devices with built-in power output.
Switch between modes via DIP switches or software configuration.
