Key Product Advantages

  • Excellent performance for confined installation space: Optimized for counter‑bore, side‑view and rear‑view restricted conditions. It can be deployed on equipment incompatible with standard 3300‑XL 5/8 mm probes without mechanical modification. Suitable for small‑target measurement for shafts less than 51 mm and flat target surfaces smaller than 15 mm.
  • Supports legacy system retrofitting: Direct replacement for legacy 3300 RAM, 3000‑190 and 7000‑190 transducer systems. For 3300RAM upgrades, existing probes and extension cables may be retained; only the NSv Proximitor Sensor needs replacement. Nominal scale factor is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil), consistent with legacy 190‑series output, so no re‑configuration is needed for existing monitoring modules.
  • Wide environmental adaptability: Probe operating temperature ranges from ‑34℃ to +177℃ for harsh high‑low‑temperature industrial sites. Optional FluidLoc chemical‑resistant cables are available for corrosive compressor process environments.
  • Robust connector construction: Adopts ClickLoc self‑locking miniature coaxial connector with anti‑vibration locking function. Optional connector protectors block moisture and oil contamination and reduce field signal failures.
  • Flexible Proximitor mounting: Matching Proximitor Sensors support both panel‑mount and DIN‑rail‑mount installation with superior RFI/EMI noise immunity.
  • Highly integrated measurement capability: One complete transducer system delivers vibration, position, speed and Keyphasor phase measurements to satisfy multi‑parameter condition‑monitoring requirements for rotating machinery.

Product Limitation: To achieve narrow‑side‑view performance, the linear range is only 1.5 mm, shorter than standard 3300‑XL 5/8 mm probes. It is intended for small‑gap measurement applications only.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can the 330901‑00‑50‑10‑01‑00 probe work with standard 3300‑XL‑8 mm Proximitor Sensor?

A: No. The NSv is an independent sub‑series with specially‑matched internal circuitry and cable capacitance. Only 330980‑series NSv Proximitor Sensors shall be used. Mismatched standard 8 mm Proximitor Sensors cause incorrect scale factor, distorted measurement data and equipment alarms.

Q2: What does total system length mean? The probe comes with 1 m built‑in cable, how do I select the extension cable?

A: Total system length is the electrical length sum of probe‑built‑in cable plus extension cable, which must strictly match the nominal 5 m or 7 m rating marked on the Proximitor Sensor. Example: For a 1‑meter built‑in probe cable paired with a 5‑meter‑rated Proximitor Sensor, a 4‑meter extension cable is required. Mismatched total length invalidates factory calibration parameters.

Q3: The linear range is limited to 1.5 mm. What static installation gap should be applied?

A: Set static gap voltage to approximately ‑10 V, corresponding to around 1.27 mm physical gap. Keep operating gap strictly within the 0‑1.5 mm linear range. Operating beyond 1.5 mm enters the non‑linear region and produces false vibration and displacement readings.

Q4: Should I use a wrench to tighten the ClickLoc coaxial connector?

A: Wrench tightening is forbidden. Only finger‑tight assembly is permitted with maximum torque of 0.56 N·m (5 in·lb). Excessive force damages the internal 75‑ohm coaxial core, resulting in signal drift, signal fluctuation or permanent connector failure. Apply 5.1 N·m torque only for probe body mounting threads.

Q5: What happens when the monitored shaft material is not AISI‑4140 steel?

A: Factory calibration is performed against AISI‑4140 steel target samples. Different shaft materials introduce scale‑factor deviation and degrade measurement accuracy. Special target‑material calibration from the manufacturer is required for non‑4140 steel shafts.

Q6: When upgrading legacy 3000‑190 systems, can I replace only the probe and reuse the old Proximitor Sensor?

A: No. Full replacement of probe, extension cable and Proximitor Sensor with NSv‑series components is mandatory for 3000‑190 upgrades. Only for 3300RAM retrofits may existing probes and cables remain in service while only the 330980 NSv Proximitor Sensor gets swapped.

Q7: The measurement signal has random spikes and heavy fluctuations. Which items should be checked first during on‑site troubleshooting?

A: ① Inspect ClickLoc connectors for oil contamination or moisture; install connector protectors where applicable.

② Verify cable routing avoids bending radius smaller than 25.4 mm.

③ Confirm single‑point earthing at the Proximitor side; multi‑point grounding shall be avoided to eliminate ground‑loop interference.

④ Separate sensor cables from high‑power power cables to mitigate electromagnetic coupling noise.

Q8: Is there a different minimum bend‑radius requirement for armored versus non‑armored NSv cables?

A: Requirements are identical. Minimum bend radius for all NSv cables (armored or non‑armored) shall be no less than 25.4 mm (1 inch). Sharper bends alter cable capacitance and cause zero‑point measurement drift.

Critical Installation & Operating Notes

  • Match total system length: Sum of probe‑built‑in cable plus extension cable length must fully match the 5 m / 7 m rating of the 330980 Proximitor Sensor. Length mismatch causes scale‑factor and linearity errors and corrupted readings.
  • Observe specified tightening torques
    • Probe mounting threads: Rated torque 7.3 N·m, recommended installation torque 5.1 N·m (45 in‑lb). Do not over‑torque to prevent thread damage.
    • ClickLoc coaxial connectors: Finger‑tight only, maximum torque 0.56 N·m (5 in·lb). Wrench use is prohibited to avoid internal coaxial component damage.
  • Cable routing requirements: Maintain minimum bend radius ≥25.4 mm (1 inch) for both armored and non‑armored cables. Sharp bends alter cable capacitance and trigger measurement drift.
  • Electro‑static discharge protection: Though connectors and Proximitor terminals feature built‑in ESD protection, follow anti‑static procedures during assembly and wiring to prevent circuit damage from static discharge.
  • Target material consideration: Factory calibration references AISI‑4140 steel. Non‑4140 shaft materials create scale‑factor deviation; request custom calibration from manufacturer for alternative target materials.
  • Connector protection: Deploy connector protectors on‑site to block oil and process‑media ingress and prevent signal spikes and gap drift faults.
  • Linear‑range constraints: Linear operating window is 1.5 mm maximum. Set static installation gap within the 0‑1.5 mm linear interval; out‑of‑range operation yields invalid readings.
  • No cross‑series component mixing: This NSv probe cannot pair with standard 3300‑XL‑8 mm Proximitor Sensors. Always implement complete NSv sets including probe, extension cable and Proximitor Sensor.
  • Retrofit guidance
    • 3300RAM upgrade: Reuse existing probe and extension cables; replace only the 330980 NSv Proximitor Sensor.
    • 3000‑190 /7000‑190 upgrade: Replace probe, extension cable and Proximitor Sensor completely with NSv‑series hardware; legacy components cannot be reused.
