Statement on Model Selection Change of 3500/15 AC Power Supply Module

1. Change description

For the 3500/15 power supply module, Bently Nevada has launched a new-generation universal 3500/15 AC power supply module to replace the legacy High Voltage AC (HVAC) and Low Voltage AC (LVAC) power supply modules.

After this design revision, the full AC input voltage range of 85‑264Vac adopts one unified main power module and Power Input Module (PIM). The single universal AC module replaces the original two models, HVAC and LVAC, with product pricing unchanged.

Critical Compatibility Requirements

The new universal AC main module must be paired with the new universal AC PIM. Mixing old and new AC components is strictly prohibited. Although pairing a new main module with an old PIM (or vice versa) will not create an immediate safety hazard, it will result in abnormal system operation and invalidate electrical safety certifications.

Complete legacy AC power assemblies and complete new universal AC power assemblies can be used within the same 3500 rack for redundant power configuration. Each power set must maintain a matched main module‑PIM pair; cross-combination is forbidden.

This AC power update does not apply to DC power supplies. DC hardware has two generations: the original legacy DC series (part numbers 129xxx/133xxx) and the REFRESH DC series (part numbers 114M/115M). For DC modules, the main module and PIM must also be matched from the same generation; cross-generation mixing is prohibited.

This AC revision does not alter the specifications, part numbers or ordering rules for all DC power models (High Voltage DC HVDC, Low Voltage DC LVDC). Part numbers for spare parts of both original legacy DC and REFRESH DC remain unchanged. Customers shall use the updated corresponding part numbers for future orders and spare part procurement.

The legacy ordering options and currently updated options for the 3500/15 when ordered in a 3500 system, are summarized in Table 1 bellow.

In addition to the 3500/15 part number ordering structure updates detailed above, the spare part numbers for the new Universal AC Main Module and PIM are different than the current HVAC and LVAC Main Module and PIM part numbers. - -03 / -04 correspond to original legacy DC hardware.

3. Product Update Summary

The power supply for the 3500 monitoring system is a half-height module installed in dedicated slots on the left side of the rack. The module accepts wide-range input voltage and converts it to the operating voltage required by other 3500 modules.

A complete power supply assembly consists of a front-mounted main power module and a matching rear rack Power Input Module (PIM). Power supplies are divided into AC main modules and DC main modules; AC and DC types are further split into high-voltage and low-voltage variants. DC hardware additionally distinguishes between original legacy and REFRESH versions.

Historically, the 3500/15 power supply had four independent ordering models:

• High Voltage AC (HVAC)
• Low Voltage AC (LVAC)
• High Voltage DC (HVDC): original legacy / REFRESH hardware
• Low Voltage DC (LVDC): original legacy / REFRESH hardware

This product update applies only to the newly optimized design of the 3500/15 AC power supply, including updated ordering options and corresponding spare part numbers. This revision does not apply to DC series power supplies (original legacy DC and REFRESH 114M/115M DC). DC ordering codes and spare part PNs remain unchanged.

Installation Instructions

A maximum of 2 power supply modules can be installed in one rack for redundant power supply. The lower slot holds the primary power module, and the upper slot holds the backup power module. Under redundant configuration, hot-swapping one power module will not interrupt rack system operation.

DC Usage Rules

Original legacy DC main modules may only pair with original legacy DC PIMs. REFRESH 114M main modules may only pair with REFRESH 115M/114M PIMs. Cross-generation DC pairing is prohibited.

4. Product Update Details

The revised 3500/15 universal AC power supply uses one set of main power module and PIM across the full 85‑264Vac input voltage range. The new universal AC PIM incorporates two hardware modifications, refer to Figure 1 (OEM drawing):

• Connector upgrade: The external power interface of the PIM is changed from fixed terminal block to pluggable terminal block connector, simplifying field power cable wiring.
• Redesigned fuse assembly: The fuse holder of the universal AC PIM is structurally optimized. The internal fuse can only be accessed or replaced after removing the PIM metal cover. Replacement fuses use new part numbers; legacy fuses are non-interchangeable.

5. Supply Transition Timeline (Original OEM Notice PUN‑153020237)

• 2016‑07‑25: New universal AC 3500/15 (Order Option -05) complete units and spares open for ordering. Legacy HVAC/LVAC (-01/-02) orders still accepted.
• 2016‑09‑01: New system orders no longer accept legacy HVAC/LVAC selections. New systems may only select universal AC option -05. Legacy AC modules can still be purchased as spares until stock depletion.
• After legacy AC spare stock exhaustion: Field replacement of legacy HVAC/LVAC power hardware must be fully upgraded to the new universal AC main module + universal AC PIM assembly. Single component replacement is not permitted.

This transition timeline applies exclusively to HVAC/LVAC AC products. DC series hardware (original legacy DC and REFRESH 114M/115M DC) remains unaffected and continues parallel supply.

All part numbers listed above are included in the 3500 series EU Declaration of Conformity (EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, LVD Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU; ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU optional). The explosion protection and safety certification class of the modules and complete 3500 monitoring system remains identical.

7. Critical Risk Warnings

AC Power Supply Prohibited Operations

Do not mix old and new AC components (new main module + old PIM, old main module + new PIM). Mixing invalidates safety certifications and may trigger system faults.

DC Power Supply Prohibited Operations

Cross-generation mixing between original legacy DC and REFRESH 114M/115M DC hardware is strictly forbidden. Legacy main modules must pair with legacy PIMs; REFRESH main modules must pair with REFRESH PIMs.

Permitted Coexistence Scenarios for Redundant Power Supplies

• Complete legacy AC power assemblies and complete new universal AC power assemblies can coexist within the same 3500 rack.
• Redundant power configuration supports coexistence of complete original legacy DC assemblies and complete REFRESH DC assemblies.

All main modules, PIMs and fuse spares for HVDC/LVDC DC series (original legacy and REFRESH 114M/115M) are unaffected by this AC power update and retain original part numbers.

8. Ordering & Spare Part Procurement Guidelines

New Project Systems

AC Power Supply: Select 3500/15‑xx‑05‑xx universal AC option, 85‑264Vac input fully covers original HVAC and LVAC operating conditions.
DC Power Supply: -06 for REFRESH HVDC (114M5329‑01); -07 for REFRESH LVDC (114M5330‑01); original legacy DC uses -03/-04.

Spare Part Procurement Reference

For in-service legacy HVAC/LVAC units: After legacy AC spare parts are depleted, field maintenance requires full upgrade to the universal AC power kit. Single component replacement is not supported.
