The DECS-250 is a complete digital excitation control system. This compact device integrates comprehensive control functions, enabling precise regulation of voltage, reactive power (var) and power factor, with excellent system response capabilities, while also providing generator protection. An optional power system stabilizer helps meet stringent grid code requirements. The DECS-250 features a cost-effective and easy-to-operate design, combined with high flexibility and comprehensive functionality.

The system integrates a wide range of generator protection functions, including 27/59 voltage protection, 81O/U frequency protection, 32R reverse power protection, 40Q turn-to-turn protection, Exciter Diode Monitoring (EDM), 59F field overvoltage protection, 51F field overcurrent protection, Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) loss of excitation protection, field winding short circuit protection, and 25 synchronism check. These protection functions are configurable, while certain internal circuits are treated with conformal coating to enhance protection performance and reliability.
Additionally, the DECS-250 features load sharing via Ethernet and auto-tuning functionality with two PID stabilizer groups. It offers an optional integrated Power System Stabilizer (PSS) compliant with IEEE Std. 421.5, available in PSS2A/2B/2C types. Other functionalities include overexcitation limiting (with temperature compensation), underexcitation limiting, stator current limiting (with temperature compensation), var limiting, underfrequency limiting or V/Hz limiting, exciter diode monitoring, trending, oscillography, and sequence of events recording.
The system is equipped with sixteen programmable contact inputs and twelve programmable contact outputs, and is compatible with I/O expansion modules (AEM-2020 Analog Expansion Module and CEM-2020 Contact Expansion Module).
