The GE IC693DNM200 is a DeviceNet master module specifically designed for industrial automation systems. It belongs to the GE Series 90-30 PLC system and is now under Emerson Automation Solutions (after Emerson acquired GE Intelligent Platforms in 2019).
As the core control unit of the DeviceNet network, this module undertakes the key tasks of data exchange and control command transmission between the PLC and network slave devices. It can function as both a network master (managing up to 63 slave stations) and a slave station (adapting to other master stations).
It is a core component for realizing equipment collaboration and data interaction in safety-critical industrial scenarios such as discrete manufacturing, process control, and energy management.

Core Functional Advantages
Dual-mode network control: Supports "master + slave" dual-mode operation. It can function as a DeviceNet network master to manage up to 63 slave devices, or be configured as a slave to adapt to other masters. This meets the hierarchical control requirements of complex industrial networks and enhances system topology flexibility.
Multi-type data transmission and connections: Supports four I/O connection methods: Poll, Strobe, Cyclic, and COS (Change of State). Each slave can be configured with 2 I/O connections (typically 1 for Polled and 1 for Strobe/Cyclic/COS). It also supports Explicit Messaging and Unconnected Message Manager (UCMM, with 1 proxy connection per slave), adapting to transmission needs of data with different priorities.
Wide-range data processing capability: A single slave supports a maximum of 255 bytes of input/output data transmission, while a single master supports up to 3972 bytes of input/output data transmission. This meets the demands of industrial scenarios with multiple slaves and large data volumes (e.g., collaborative control of multiple devices in a production line) and avoids data transmission bottlenecks.
Flexible speed and scanning configuration: Supports standard DeviceNet data rates (125K, 250K, 500K Baud), selectable based on network scale and real-time requirements. It allows global scan rate configuration, and the update rates of Poll and COS/Cyclic connections can be set independently to adapt to the response time requirements of different devices.
Fault diagnosis and protection: Features configurable communication loss fault behavior (e.g., output default state settings). It can report slave communication loss/recovery status in the PLC fault table (configurable). It provides 64 network device status bits (the master's own status bit is always 0), facilitating real-time monitoring of device health and shortening fault troubleshooting time.
Field-upgradable firmware: Via the module's built-in RS-232 service port (9-pin D-sub interface), the firmware can be upgraded to version 1.25 using the upgrade kit (44A752253-G03, available for download from the Emerson support website). This version is compatible with historical firmware and fixes faults caused by multiple consecutive COMMREQs, ensuring continuous optimization of module functions.
High compatibility and integration: Compatible with PACSystems RX3i (such as IC695CPU310, requiring CPU firmware version 3.5 or higher) and Series 90-30 PLCs (excluding IC693CPU321/340, requiring CPU firmware version 8.0 or higher, with version 10.0 or higher recommended). It supports Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer PLC programming software (Series 90-30 requires version 3.0 SP1 Special 2 or higher; RX3i requires version 5.5 or higher) for rapid configuration and integration.

Key Technical Parameters

Module Replacement: The IC693DNM200 replaces the original HE693DNT250 master module. Note the following functional differences between the two:Configuration Method: The HE693DNT250 requires initial configuration via a serial port before being installed in the PLC rack; the IC693DNM200 is fully configured through programming software, eliminating the need for initial serial port setup.Status Reporting: The HE693DNT250 reports slave "online status" via 4 words in %AI memory; the IC693DNM200 reports status via 64 consecutive bits in reference memory such as %I (default), and additionally provides 3 status words for server status, CAN status, and firmware version.Explicit Messaging: The HE693DNT250 requires message construction via %R memory + parameter setting via %AQ memory; the IC693DNM200 is triggered via COMMREQ, with errors reported through the COMMREQ status word and the 5th word of the response block.Firmware Compatibility: Firmware version 1.25 is compatible with all historical versions (e.g., 1.22, 1.18, etc.) and supports on-site upgrades. During upgrading, the RX3i CPU may report an "Unsupported Hardware" fault, which can be ignored.
