HIMA F3237(Order No. 984323702) is an 8-channel safety-related digital input module, specially designed for safety-critical applications such as Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).It is compatible with DIN 19234 (NAMUR) proximity switches, safety proximity switches, and resistance-wired sensors.The module features built-in monitoring for short circuits and wire breaks, as well as full self-testing during operation.It complies with safety integrity levels AK 1–6 and is widely used in high-safety industrial scenarios including chemical, oil & gas, and power industries.

  • Q1: Can the F3237 only be connected to NAMUR sensors?
    A: DIN 19234 (NAMUR) sensors are preferred. For non-standard low-current sensors, a 47 kΩ parallel resistor can be used to increase the no-load current to approximately 170 µA, while retaining wire-break monitoring.
  • Q2: How to distinguish wire-break / short-circuit / normal signals?
    Normal 0-signal: 0.35–1.2 mA
    Normal 1-signal: 2.1–6.0 mA
    Wire-break: ≤ 0.28 mA
    Short-circuit: ≥ 6.5 mA
    The module automatically identifies and reports to the system.
  • Q3: What are the maximum wiring distance and wire size requirements?
    A: Maximum 1000 m with 0.5 mm² cable and line impedance ≤ 50 Ω. Longer distances require voltage drop and impedance verification.
  • Q4: Does the module support redundancy?
    A: Yes. Redundant wiring is supported via single sensor connected to two modules / two channels to meet high safety and availability requirements.
  • Q5: Does self-test affect normal input?
    A: No. Self-test runs periodically in the background without interrupting signal acquisition or introducing additional safety risks.
  • Q6: Does a non-lit LED always mean the module is defective?
    A: Not necessarily. LED function is not covered by self-test. Please first check power supply, wiring, channel status and module fault codes.
  • Q7: What is the supporting software?
    A: Function block HB‑RTE‑. The specific version is subject to the HIMA operating system documentation.
