KEBA DO470-A K2-400 DO470/A  is a dedicated digital relay output expansion module for the KEBA Kemro K2-400 automation control platform, serving as a signal transfer unit between the controller and field actuators.

Equipped with 16 independent SPST normally open relay contacts, the module can directly drive both AC and DC loads. It exchanges data with the main control unit via the proprietary K2 backplane bus. Reinforced electrical isolation is implemented between each channel and the logic circuit.

It is applicable to industrial control scenarios requiring high-power switching outputs, such as injection molding, automated assembly and packaging machinery. Featuring long-service-life relays and full-channel status indicator lights, it simplifies on-site troubleshooting. Complying with the IEC 61131-2 industrial electrical standard, it delivers reliable operation in factory production environments with heavy electromagnetic interference.

Model Code Explanation

K2-400: Refers to the KEBA Kemro K2-400 integrated control platform. The module is exclusively compatible with the CPU backplane bus of this series and cannot be used across other product lines including C5 and K2-200.

DO: Abbreviation for Digital Output, denoting digital output type I/O module.

470: Internal functional code of the series, corresponding to the 16-channel relay output hardware architecture.

/A: Hardware version identifier, representing a standard hardware revision with no differences in pin definitions or electrical parameters.

Product Features

1. Channel Configuration: 16 independent SPST normally open relay outputs without shared contact grouping.

2. Electrical Specifications: 24V DC power supplied via backplane; bus power consumption 2.2W. Maximum output switching frequency 30Hz, logic processing response frequency 15Hz.

3. Isolation Protection: 2500V AC electrical isolation for all channels to prevent surge interference from external loads to the main control circuit.

4. Contact Ratings: 5A / 250V AC for resistive loads; 3A / 30V DC loads. Direct connection of high-power inductive loads is prohibited.

5. Environmental Resistance: Operating temperature range 0℃ ~ +60℃; storage temperature -40℃ ~ +70℃; ambient air humidity 10% ~ 95% non-condensing.

6. Mounting Specifications: Standard TS-35 DIN rail mounting. Overall dimensions match unified slots of K2 racks; weight approx. 1 kg.

7. Diagnostic Indicators: Independent dual-color red/green LEDs per channel to distinguish command transmission status and physical output status.

8. Compliance Standards: Compliant with EN 61131-2, Overvoltage Category II, Protection Class III, suitable for standard industrial control cabinet environments.

Product Advantages

Independent Isolated Channels with Strong Anti-interference Performance

Each relay channel is arranged completely independently. The isolation voltage between channels as well as between each channel and logic ground reaches 2500 V AC. This eliminates electromagnetic crosstalk caused by switching multiple loads and prevents false triggering of output signals, making it compatible with high-interference actuators such as frequently switched solenoid valves and contactors.

Wide Compatibility & Powerful Load Driving Capacity

A single contact supports resistive loads of 5 A / 250 V AC and 3 A / 30 V DC. It can directly drive indicator lights, miniature hydraulic valves, heating contactors and alarm devices without additional intermediate relays, simplifying internal wiring layout inside control cabinets.

Extended Service Life to Cut Maintenance Costs

The relays offer a mechanical lifespan of tens of millions of operations, and an electrical lifespan of over 100,000 cycles under normal 5 A AC load conditions. Modules do not require frequent replacement for equipment with long-term high-frequency cyclic switching, lowering equipment downtime for maintenance.

Visualized System for Rapid Fault Localization

Every channel is equipped with a dual-color LED indicator. Green light indicates the output command issued by the controller, while red light signals physical relay pull-in. Maintenance staff can visually distinguish abnormal program signals from hardware contact failures.

Modular Design for Fast Capacity Expansion

Adopting the unified backplane plug-in structure of the K2 series and standard TS-35 DIN rail mounting, the quantity of modules can be freely increased or decreased according to the I/O requirements of equipment. Additional output points can be expanded without refitting existing control cabinets.

Product Comparison

Comparison 1: K2-400 DI470-A (Digital Input Module)

The DO470-A is an output module that sends control signals to drive external components, while the DI470-A is an input module used to collect signals from on-site sensors and pushbuttons. The two modules feature fully complementary channel functions, identical physical dimensions and rack mounting methods, differing only in the internal signal logic of the backplane.

Comparison 2: KeConnect C5 DO570 (Transistor Output Module)

The DO470-A adopts relay contacts, supporting both AC and DC loads with a higher isolation rating, yet its maximum switching frequency is limited to 30 Hz. In contrast, the DO570 delivers transistor outputs only compatible with DC loads. It boasts faster switching speed and zero mechanical wear, making it ideal for high-frequency miniature solenoid valves, but cannot drive high-power AC equipment.

Comparison 3: K2-400 Mixed I/O Module DM460

The DM460 integrates both input and output channels with fewer total channels per module, suited for compact machinery with limited I/O points. The DO470-A provides 16 dedicated output channels, offering lower procurement costs for high-density output applications as well as a superior safety rating thanks to independent relay isolation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can the DO470-A directly replace DO output modules of the KeConnect C5 series?

A1: No. The DO470-A is exclusively designed for the K2-400 backplane bus. Its hardware interfaces and communication protocols are completely incompatible with the C5 series, so cross-series direct replacement is not supported.

Q2: Is it acceptable to connect both AC and DC loads to a single channel contact at the same time?

A2: It is not recommended. Only one type of load shall be wired to each contact. Mixing AC and DC loads will accelerate contact oxidation and drastically shorten the service life of the relay.

Q3: What fault does it indicate when the green LED is on normally while the red LED stays off?

A3: The controller has sent out output commands, yet the mechanical relay contact fails to pull in. This issue is usually caused by burnt contacts or damaged internal relays, and the module needs to be replaced.

Q4: Will multiple DO470-A modules installed in one control cabinet cause address conflicts?

A4: There is such a risk. The DIP switch address on the side of each rack-mounted module must be unique. Duplicate addresses will confuse the controller and lead to loss of control over output channels.

Q5: What consequences will continuous operation above 60°C ambient temperature bring?

A5: High temperatures speed up aging of relay contacts and reduce electrical service life. In severe cases, contact sticking and uncontrolled outputs may occur. A cooling fan shall be installed inside the cabinet.

Q6: Are extra isolation accessories required if the equipment is exported overseas?

A6: No extra accessories are needed. The module comes with built-in 2500 V channel isolation, and CE & UL certifications cover electrical standards for major manufacturing markets worldwide.

Q7: What equipment malfunctions can loose wiring at module terminals trigger?

A7: The load circuit will be intermittent with flickering indicator lights. In extreme cases, electric arcs will burn terminals and interfere with the logical operation of the main controller.
