Lantronix 080‑338‑000‑R Network Module

Product Overview

080‑338‑000‑R belongs to the Lantronix DSTni‑XPress‑DR series DIN‑rail industrial gateway, designed for industrial hazardous‑area applications. It converts traditional RS232/RS422/RS485 serial devices to 10/100Mbps Ethernet for LAN access. The module features 3000VDC galvanic isolation between serial and Ethernet ports, and carries Class I Div2 explosion‑proof certification. Widely deployed in oil & gas, petrochemical and process automation industries, it connects PLCs, transmitters, inverters and serial instruments to realize network retrofitting of legacy field equipment without modifying existing hardware.

FAQ

Q1: How to troubleshoot intermittent packet loss and communication failures on Modbus RTU‑over‑TCP?

A: According to official documentation, common firmware versions for this unit are A12 and A13. Older firmware releases contain known Modbus compatibility defects; prioritize firmware upgrade. Also verify serial wiring, RS485 termination resistor and network timeout parameters.

Q2: Can EDS2100 directly replace 080‑338‑000‑R for explosion‑prone field sites?

A: No. EDS2100 does not carry Class I Div2 hazardous‑location certification. It may only be installed inside ordinary safe cabinets and cannot be used for explosion‑risk operating conditions.

Q3: How to restore the device to factory default settings?

A: Two official methods: use the hardware reset button on the unit; or execute factory‑reset commands via Telnet / serial console CLI. After reset, IP address, serial parameters and protocol configurations will revert to factory defaults.

Q4: Does the MAC address printed on the device label indicate a part‑number revision?

A: The base part number remains 080‑338‑000‑R. The appended MAC address is the unique hardware identifier; the product model itself has not changed.
