Core Functional Features

(1) Seamless Information Interaction

  • Integrates information from all serial devices into the DeltaV system, displaying it in real time on the Operator Interface.
  • When connected to a PLC, DeltaV software can transmit monitoring information to the PLC and coordinate cross-system control strategies.

(2) Plug-and-Play Design

  • No DIP switches required; directly insert into any available slot of the I/O interface carrier.
  • The DeltaV controller automatically identifies the interface card and provides configuration options, enabling quick operation via click-based configuration.

(3) Extended Lifespan of Existing Devices

  • Supports efficient docking with existing PLCs or other serial devices. Without replacing original equipment, it overlays DeltaV’s advanced control functions onto the existing system.

(4) Redundancy Function (Requires Compatible Devices)

  • Supports 1:1 redundancy configuration (requires slave devices to support redundant serial ports). Redundant and non-redundant cards use the same model to protect existing I/O investments.
  • The system automatically senses redundant I/O, manages redundant card pairs as a single card, and switches from the primary card to the standby card automatically in case of failure—no manual intervention is needed, with prompts displayed on the Operator Interface.

(5) Serial Communication Capability

  • Each card includes 2 serial ports supporting RS232, RS422/485 half-duplex or full-duplex signals. Ports can be configured independently, with a maximum data rate of 115 KBaud.
  • Supports Modbus RTU and ASCII protocols. Each port can be configured as a master or slave device, with a single card supporting up to 32 data sets (16 per port).
  • Enables reading and writing of Modbus coils, input states, holding registers, etc. The output mode can be configured as single coil, register, or full data set mode.

Redundancy Configuration Extension (Comparison with VE4036P2)

VE4006P2 adopts a single-card configuration, including 1 interface card and 1 simplex terminal block. For redundancy requirements, VE4036P2 (with 2 interface cards and a redundant terminal block) is available, supporting automatic primary-backup card switching. It is suitable for scenarios with high reliability demands (such as hardware failures, communication interruptions, or manual trigger switching).
