VE4012S2B1 is an 8-channel analog input (AI) card in the DeltaV M Series intrinsic safety I/O. It supports 4-20 mA signals with HART protocol, is equipped with an I/O terminal block, but without a loop disconnect terminal block.
System Affiliation and Application Scenarios
This card is part of the DeltaV distributed control system and a native component of the controller I/O subsystem, suitable for scenarios where I/O operates in hazardous areas. The I.S. I/O subsystem it belongs to can withstand environmental conditions of Class I Division 2 and Zone II, while its associated intrinsic safety field circuits and equipment can enter Class I Division 1, Zone 1 and Zone 0 areas, supporting industry-standard AI applications.
DATA SHEET
Hardware Specifications
Number of channels: 8.
Isolation performance: 60V AC from LocalBus to any channel, no isolation between channels, 250V AC from intrinsic safety channels to non-intrinsic safety rails.
Signal range: The nominal signal range (span) is 4-20 mA, and the full signal range is 2-22 mA.
Current related: LocalBus current (12 VDC nominal) is 600 mA per card; in line fault detection, short-circuit current >21.5 mA, open-circuit current <0.5 mA.
Resolution: 16 bits.
Calibration requirement: No calibration required.
Other features: Supports optional loop disconnect function; minimum voltage supplied to the transmitter at 20 mA is 15 V; temperature stability is ±0.006% of span per °C.
System-related Advantages
Modular Design: It is part of the full-system modular design, allowing hot-swap installation. It can be added in groups of 8 channels as needed and expanded with system growth, optimizing automation investment.
Space-saving: The I/O components it belongs to adopt an advanced form factor design, which can be installed in field junction boxes, reducing equipment footprint and freeing up control room space.
Cost and Time Reduction: As a native DeltaV I/O card, it eliminates the need for third-party barriers or interface mapping. It can be installed on-site near equipment, together with controllers, reducing wiring costs and installation time.
Convenient Installation and Maintenance: Supports plug-and-play functionality, with components that can be inserted into I/O interface carriers. Equipped with I/O function keys to ensure correct installation of corresponding terminal blocks and maintain correctness during card replacement. Supports real-time online device addition without interrupting processes.
Environmental Adaptability and Compatibility
Environmental Adaptability: Complies with general environmental specifications for all I/O interfaces, such as operating temperature of -40 to 60°C, storage temperature of -40 to 85°C, relative humidity of 5-95% (non-condensing), etc. It has an IP20 protection rating and is suitable for hazardous areas such as Zone 2 and IIC T4.
Compatibility: As an M Series I/O card, it is incompatible with S Series controllers and carriers and must be used with relevant components of the DeltaV system, such as 8-wide carriers.
