As a classic LON‑based LINKnet distributed I/O node from Woodward, its regular production was officially discontinued in April 2015. It has since been replaced by the LINKnet HT series modules using the CANopen architecture. Currently, it is only available as a spare part or expansion component for existing systems and is not recommended for new system deployments.

Core Functions & Features
- Multi‑Channel Independent Acquisition: 6 isolated input channels independently capture 4–20 mA signals from pressure, temperature, position, and other sensors without interference, supporting simultaneous multi‑parameter monitoring.
- Industrial‑Grade Reliability: Rugged industrial hardware design, wide operating temperature range, and IP67 rating enable direct field deployment in demanding applications such as turbine control.
- High‑Speed Real‑Time Acquisition: Fast sampling rate supports real‑time data capture for rapid control system response.
- LON Bus Compatibility: LON protocol integration allows connection to the Woodward LINKnet distributed I/O network. A single controller can support multiple modules for distributed signal acquisition and transmission.
Easy System Integration: Standard industrial mounting, direct compatibility with Woodward MicroNet™ series (CPU040 / CPU060 / NT CPU) and 5000 Series CPU systems without additional adapters.

Applications
The WOODWARD 9905‑968 is mainly used in gas turbine control, industrial process automation, and large‑equipment condition monitoring. As a front‑end signal acquisition unit in distributed control systems, it acquires, conditions, and transmits standard 4–20 mA sensor signals, providing accurate raw data for backend controller analysis and equipment control. It is a critical front‑end component for industrial automation and control systems.
