Woodward 9907-861 (GSOV25 HT, 24 VDC Solenoid Actuated) is a high-temperature high-speed gas shutoff valve specially developed by Woodward for industrial gas turbines, belonging to the high-performance safety trip valve of the GSOV25 series. It achieves rapid and zero-leakage fuel gas cutoff during emergency and normal shutdowns, serving as the core component of the gas turbine fuel safety system.

In the model designation, "HT" stands for High Temperature, suitable for operating conditions with higher fuel gas temperature and back pressure; "24 VDC Solenoid" indicates it is equipped with a built-in 24 VDC solenoid actuator, compatible with standard industrial control power supply.

Product Advantages

Ultra-fast Shutdown & Millisecond-level Safety: Shutdown time is less than 0.1 second at 900 psig (6200 kPa), and under 600 psig it is within 85 ms, far exceeding conventional industry response speed.
Excellent High Temperature & High Pressure Adaptability (Core HT Advantage): Withstands maximum fuel temperature up to 177°C and back pressure up to 3448 kPa, perfectly suited for harsh working conditions of heavy-duty gas turbines.
Class VI Zero-leakage Sealing: Superior to Class VI sealing standard. Adopts full stainless steel valve body and Viton seal, ensuring zero internal leakage during long-term operation and complying with API-616 safety specifications.
Maintenance-free & Long Service Life: Constructed of full stainless steel, fitted with built-in 40μm precision filter to prevent abrasion caused by impurities. It operates solely by pipeline pressure without external power supply, featuring stable and reliable structure.

Product Features

1. Technical Parameters

Model: 9907-861 (GSOV25 HT)Actuation: 24 VDC solenoid coil (Operating voltage: 21–30 VDC, power consumption: 10 W, peak power: 50 W)Bore Size: 2.0-inch flanged connectionFlow Rate: 25,000 lb/h (11,340 kg/h), pressure drop <10 psi (69 kPa)Pressure Range: 150–900 psig (1034–6200 kPa)Shutdown Time: ≤100 ms at 900 psigSealing Grade: Class VI (Zero leakage)Material: 316 stainless steel valve body, Viton seal, hardened valve coreWeight: Approx. 33 kg (72 lb)Explosion-proof Rating: ATEX II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb, CE compliant

2. Working Principle

Normally closed three-stage piston structure
  • Energized (24 VDC): The solenoid valve pulls in, and gas pressure drives the spring-loaded piston to open, allowing fuel to flow into the turbine.
  • Power-off / Malfunction: The solenoid de-energizes, the secondary piston relieves pressure, and the main spring pushes the primary piston to close rapidly to cut off fuel with zero leakage throughout the process.

Application Scenarios

  • Industrial Gas Turbines: Fuel safety shutoff systems for 10–50 MW heavy-duty gas turbines (GE, Siemens models etc.)
  • Gas Power Plants: Combined cycle power plants, distributed energy stations and emergency power generation equipment
  • Oil & Gas Industry: Emergency cutoff for natural gas processing plants, compressor units and flare systems
  • High-temperature Process Fields: High-temperature gas pipelines in metallurgy and chemical industries, applicable to working conditions with fuel temperature ≤177°C

FAQ

Q1: Will reversing positive and negative poles of the 24 VDC solenoid valve cause burnout?
A: No. The coil adopts non-polar design. Reverse connection fails to activate the valve but causes no damage. The green wire must be grounded to ensure explosion-proof safety.
Q2: Is slight leakage normal after shutdown?
A: Normal allowable leakage ≤400 cm³/min. Excessive leakage indicates valve seat wear or foreign matter jamming. Disassemble for cleaning or replace original Woodward sealing parts.
Q3: Is it applicable to LPG working conditions?
A: Yes. It fits gaseous fuels such as natural gas, propane, ethane and methane. The HT version adapts to high-temperature vaporization conditions of LPG.
Q4: Are there any installation direction requirements?
A: Install the valve body vertically with actuator facing upward. Inlet and outlet cannot be reversed (flow direction marked on valve body). Reverse withstand pressure ≤200 psig.
Q5: Why does the valve fail to close after power cut-off?
A: Common causes:
  1. Incomplete power loss of solenoid valve due to control circuit failure
  2. Clogged filter leading to failed pressure relief
  3. Fatigued or stuck main spring
