IOCHAS-0002S is a standard I/O rack for HoneywellSafety Manager A.R.T. Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Combined with the FS-IOBUS-HB2S horizontal I/O bus board and FS-IOB-0002S I/O backplane, it forms a complete I/O base unit. As a core hardware assembly in industrial safety control systems, it is used for centralized installation, signal switching and power distribution of I/O modules.

Compliant with the 19-inch standard industrial cabinet specification, this rack is designed for non-redundant I/O modules and can hold up to 18 standard I/O modules. Working with the IOBUS-HB2A adapter board, it converts backplane bus signals to the front horizontal I/O bus of the rack. Widely deployed for building compliant industrial safety loops, it features high integration, excellent stability and easy maintenance, and serves as one of the essential accessories for Honeywell SIS.

Product Features

1. Overall Physical and Electrical Parameters

The full model designation of the complete unit is FC-IOCHAS-0002S, a 19-inch standard rack. Overall dimensions: 482.6 mm (19 inches) in width and 280 mm (11 inches) in depth. It adopts the HE industrial height standard. The first I/O rack is 4 HE (133.3 mm) in height, and all extended racks are also 4 HE. The total weight is 8.7 kg (19.2 lb).
Electrically, it is equipped with two independent 5V power outputs: 5V-1 (Slot 20) and 5V-2 (Slot 21), each with a rated current of 100 mA to supply power to I/O modules and circuit boards inside the rack.

2. Functions and Interfaces of Each Component

IOCHAS-0002S I/O Rack

The rack is fitted with a total of 21 module slots (No.1 to No.21). Slots 1 to 18 are for standard input and output I/O modules. Slot 19 is a blank compartment with a built-in IOBUS-HB2A signal adapter board. Slots 20 and 21 are used for installing FC-IO-0002 I/O expansion modules.
The rack is equipped with front and rear covers. The front cover can be flipped upward for easy maintenance of front flat cables. The rear cover is fastened with quarter-turn locking screws for quick removal. Cable clamps are integrated on the rear side to organize all incoming and outgoing cables.

FS-IOB-0002S I/O Backplane

Serving as the foundation for signal transmission and power distribution of the rack, it undertakes physical connections and underlying signal distribution for all I/O modules. It routes power and bus signals for each slot, acting as a core data relay between I/O modules and the system controller. It works in conjunction with the FS-IOBUS-HB2S bus board to realize end-to-end signal transmission.

FS-IOBUS-HB2S Horizontal I/O Bus Board

It integrates 18 flat cable interfaces, corresponding to I/O modules in Slots 1 to 18 one by one. The board is fitted with one 26-pin flat cable assembly and one 10-pin flat cable assembly. Both cables connect to the IOBUS-HB2A adapter board in Slot 19, converting backplane I/O bus signals to the front horizontal bus of the rack and ensuring synchronous and stable transmission of multi-channel I/O signals.

IOBUS-HB2A Signal Adapter Board

Mounted behind the blank panel of Slot 19 and secured by locking screws, it bridges the backplane bus and front horizontal I/O bus. As the signal relay hub of the entire unit, it provides physical channels for signal interaction between the front and rear sections.

A: The factory-standard complete unit FC-IOCHAS-0002S comes pre-assembled with the I/O rack, FS-IOB-0002S backplane, FS-IOBUS-HB2S bus board, IOBUS-HB2A adapter board, as well as matching flat cables and fixing screws. The I/O expansion module (FC-IO-0002) and field I/O modules are sold separately and shall be purchased according to the number of monitoring points.
Q: Is this product compatible with legacy Honeywell Safety Manager systems?
A: This hardware is developed exclusively for Safety Manager A.R.T. and backward compatible with older versions of the same series. No additional adapters are required. Please just verify the system firmware version for matching.

Q: The rear cover falls off after loosening the quarter-turn locking screws during removal. How to handle it?
