Operation Guide

  1. Hardware Assembly: Install and lock the lithium battery into the YHC5150X, connect the HART test cable. Install the supplied 250Ω resistor in series if loop load is insufficient.
  2. Power on: Press and hold the power key for 1 second, wait for system boot and enter the main interface, then select HART communication mode.
  3. Connect the two ends of test cable to the 4–20mA signal loop of field HART instruments; the device will automatically poll all smart instruments on the loop.
  4. Select the target instrument; the communicator automatically loads corresponding DD files and enters parameter page. Modify range, output, alarm and other parameters as required.
  5. Write modified parameters to the instrument and save configuration records. Perform instrument self-test and loop current verification if needed.
  6. Disconnect wiring after commissioning and back up configuration files in the device. Place the communicator on the charging cradle for recharging when idle.
  7. For data export: Connect charging cradle to PC via USB cable, synchronize commissioning records with FieldMate software.

Working Principle

The Yokogawa YHC5150X integrates a standard HART modem that superimposes digital communication signals onto the 4–20mA analog loop. After startup, the communicator transmits polling commands via the bus to obtain addresses and device IDs of HART instruments on the loop.
The built-in DD Direct parsing engine reads native DD files and interprets internal menu structures and parameter register addresses of instruments. Operators send parameter modification and diagnostic commands via the touch panel, which are transmitted to field instruments over the HART bus. Instruments execute commands and return real-time data and status information, converted into visual display by the YHC5150X.
All commissioning data is temporarily stored in on-board flash memory, supporting local storage or upload to PC management software.
