Product Overview

The 85UVF1‑1CEX is part of the US‑made Fireye Phoenix 85UVF series. It is an integrated explosion‑proof ultraviolet flame scanner manufactured in the United States. Built on a microprocessor architecture, this flame‑detecting device integrates a flame relay and requires no external flame amplifier. It is specially designed for continuous flame monitoring of industrial burners in hazardous explosive environments, applicable for gas‑fired and oil‑fired combustion conditions.Note: 24 VDC power supply, supplied with explosion‑proof housing.

Core Features

Integrated On‑board RelayA flame relay is built into the unit. It automatically sets flame on/off thresholds and eliminates the need for external flame amplifiers or flame‑switch assemblies. During commissioning, target flame characteristics are automatically stored and sensor gain is auto‑matched to reduce on‑site debugging efforts.
UV Sensing PrincipleUltraviolet spectral detection ranges from 310‑500 nm. It captures flame flicker frequency signals and effectively prevents false alarms caused by hot walls and hot glowing surfaces, delivering strong anti‑interference performance.
ATEX Flame‑proof Enclosure
  • Explosion‑proof certifications: Ex II 2G/D, EExd IIC T6, suitable for gas and dust hazardous classified areas
  • Ingress protection rating: IP66 (NEMA 4X), suitable for harsh outdoor, humid and dusty field conditions.
Standard Signal OutputEquipped with 4‑20 mA analog output for flame intensity signals, supporting flame status monitoring via DCS and PLC systems. An 8‑pin quick‑disconnect connector enables convenient electrical wiring.
Power Supply24 VDC power input, widely‑used industrial DC power, compatible with boiler and furnace control systems.

Application Scenarios

‑ Industrial boilers, packaged burners, process heaters
‑ Combustion monitoring for hazardous explosive areas in petrochemical, refinery and sulfur recovery units
‑ Flame safety monitoring for gas‑fired and oil‑fired industrial burners; replacement for conventional split‑type flame scanner plus amplifier solutions

Model Suffix Interpretation

‑ UVF: UV ultraviolet flame scanner

‑ 1: Base unit version

‑ 1: Flange‑mounted version

‑ CEX: ATEX flame‑proof enclosure variant, for Zone 0 / Zone 1 hazardous explosive locations. (By comparison, QD variants are standard non‑explosion‑proof versions with quick connectors.)

Note: The 85IRF in the same series is the infrared detection variant, optimized for high‑hydrocarbon and soot‑laden flame conditions.

Important Notes

‑ Do not arbitrarily open the housing of CEX explosion‑proof models. Opening the enclosure will invalidate explosion‑proof certification. Installation must comply with hazardous‑area installation codes.
‑ Must be used with Fireye‑compliant 8‑pin quick‑connect cables (59‑546‑x series).
‑ During installation, the optical window must be aimed toward the flame and kept away from reflective interference from hot walls.
