ICS Triplex T8153 (Trusted Communication Interface Adapter) is a dedicated rear-mounted communication interface adapter component for the Rockwell Automation ICS Triplex Trusted T8000 safety control system. It is designed to be directly installed behind the communication interface modules of the Trusted controller chassis T8100, providing standardized and easily accessible communication port expansion for peer-to-peer communication, DCS interconnection, network host computers and external devices. As a key adapter component for achieving stable interconnection between the controller and external systems in the Safety Instrumented System (SIS), it is documented in Issue 14 and is compatible with the Trusted Release 3.6.1 system version.

• Each channel is equipped with a 120Ω AC termination jumper, allowing flexible bus termination configuration at both ends to reduce signal reflection and improve long‑distance communication stability

• Serial ports: Phoenix Contact 2.5 mm pitch connectors (9‑pin J3, 5‑pin J4/J5/J7/J9–J14)
• Ethernet: standard RJ45 plugs, compatible with Molex and other general‑purpose types

RS485 Wiring Guidelines

• Signal ground must be connected
• Cable shield shall be grounded at the chassis at one end only to avoid circulating currents caused by multi‑point grounding
• Termination jumpers for TX/RX shall be installed at the start and end nodes of the bus, not at intermediate nodes
• Dual ports are used for cascading to downstream devices

Safety and Usage Warnings

• Explosion Protection Warning: In hazardous environments, hot swapping is strictly prohibited. Operation may only be performed after confirming no flammable gas concentration is present on site.
• ESD Protection: The PCB contains electrostatic‑sensitive devices. Touching exposed pins or disassembling the module is forbidden. Installation must comply with ESD standards.
• RF Interference: Portable wireless communication devices shall be used with caution on site to avoid disrupting system communication.

• Personnel Qualification: Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting shall only be performed by qualified and trained maintenance personnel.
