The T8270 is a mandatory rack cooling fan unit exclusively designed for the ICS Triplex Trusted TMR safety control system under Rockwell Automation. It delivers directed forced air cooling for module enclosures inside the entire safety instrumented system cabinet. Built to standard 19-inch 2U rack dimensions, one set of T8270 fan tray is matched to a single cabinet enclosure.

Powered by 24 V DC, the unit incorporates four industrial axial fans paired with air duct baffles to optimize airflow paths. Together with the overhead T8271 top-mounted fans installed at the cabinet top, it forms a complete vertical circulating cooling system. This design eliminates heat accumulation generated by controllers and I/O modules during prolonged operation, mitigating risks such as spurious trips of the safety system and accelerated hardware degradation caused by high temperatures. A1: A single T8292 can drive up to 5 T8270 units plus 1 T8271 unit. If the cabinet contains more than 5 enclosures, an independent T8292 power distribution circuit shall be added.
Q2: Can third-party 24 V DC cables replace the TC-011-01 cable for T8270?
A2: Replacement is not recommended. The TC-011-01 cable features pin assignment, wire gauge and shielding layer compliant with system redundant power specifications. Third-party cables are prone to voltage drop and electromagnetic interference issues.
Q3: Does the entire T8270 fan tray need to be replaced if one single fan fails?
A3: Full tray replacement is unnecessary. The individual Papst 8414NG fan can be disassembled and replaced separately. Cut off the power of the corresponding T8292 circuit before replacement.
