ICS Triplex T8150 Trusted Communication Interface module is a core intelligent communication component of the ICS Triplex Trusted safety control system. It is specifically designed for SIL 3 safety-critical applications, enabling secure and reliable data exchange between the Trusted controller, engineering workstations, third-party devices, and other Trusted systems, while reducing the communication load on the TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) processor. This module provides multi-protocol and multi-medium communication capabilities for the Trusted system, supporting single/dual module redundancy configuration. It serves as the standard communication gateway for safety control systems in high-risk industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation.

Installation and Maintenance

(I) Installation Procedure

  • Pre-installation Inspection: Verify the module is free of physical damage, pins are intact, confirm the model matches the system configuration, and observe ESD precautions (do not touch exposed pins).
  • Chassis Preparation: Ensure I/O slots are clean; install the appropriate communication cable (e.g., TC-305-01) or T8153 communication adapter.
  • Module Installation: Release the module ejector latches, align the module with the slot and insert firmly, then close the latches to secure the connection.
  • Configuration Loading: Download communication configurations (IP address, protocol, port parameters, etc.) via the Engineering Workstation (EWS). The module will complete initialization automatically.

(II) Maintenance Guidelines

  • Routine Maintenance: Regularly check module status LEDs to confirm the “Healthy” LED is solid green and communication LEDs flash normally. Verify communication cables are securely connected with no looseness or damage.
  • Troubleshooting: Access the command-line interface via the front-panel RS232 diagnostic port (using TC-304-02 maintenance cable) or Telnet (port 23). Execute diagnostic commands (e.g., t for task status, v for configuration view) to identify faults.
  • Module Replacement: T8150 does not support hot swapping. Stop the corresponding communication service before replacement. After removing the faulty module, insert the new one; the system automatically loads the configuration and restores communication.
  • Firmware Upgrade: Upload the latest firmware via the front-panel diagnostic port. Maintain stable power during the upgrade. The module will reboot automatically after successful upgrade.

Trusted Controller Core Components

  • T8110B/T8111C Trusted TMR Processor Module: System core, communicates with T8150 via the IMB bus, executes control logic and safety voting.
  • T8122/T8123 Trusted Processor Interface Adapter: Enables Modbus Master functionality on the T8150 for master station communication.
