ICS Triplex T8191 Trusted Single Slot Width Shield (6 Units) is a slot blanking panel accessory for the Trusted TMR safety control system, compatible with the T8100 controller chassis.

The T8191 is a single-slot width shielding blank. It must be installed on empty slots within the chassis where no functional modules are fitted. It seals vacant rack positions, optimises internal airflow circulation inside the chassis, and forms a continuous electromagnetic shielding barrier to mitigate electromagnetic interference affecting communication and signal acquisition of processors and I/O modules in the system.

Supplied as a set of 6 pieces. It is a passive rack accessory without control, signal input or output functions. It serves as a standard component to comply with Trusted system hardware installation specifications and EMC electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

Operation Instructions

  1. Confirm power is cut off and set the Trusted T8100 controller chassis to a safe shutdown state.
  2. Align the T8191 blank with the guide rails of an empty single slot on the chassis and push it horizontally into position.
  3. Press the front side of the blank inward; the installation is complete once a latch engagement sound is heard.
  4. Visually verify the blank is flush with the chassis panel without looseness or excessive gaps.
  5. For removal, pinch the latches on both sides of the blank and pull outward to extract it smoothly.
  6. If installing I/O modules or processor modules in this slot, remove the blank first before fitting functional modules.
  7. All vacant single slots inside the cabinet must be fitted with blanks. Exposed backplane slots are prohibited for long-term operation.

Working Principle

The T8191 is a passive mechanical accessory with no circuit operation logic. When all chassis slots are occupied by modules, the module housings form an integral shielding and air duct structure. Vacant slots expose the backplane, which causes airflow short-circuiting and creates openings for electromagnetic radiation.Once installed, the blank physically seals slot openings. It prevents airflow short-circuiting to maintain normal cooling paths for chassis fans. Meanwhile, it extends the complete metal shielding loop to suppress external electromagnetic noise and mutual electromagnetic interference between internal modules. It also protects backplane connectors from contamination by dust and foreign debris.
